Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering

 

The Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering was started in the year 1981 with initial sanctioned strength of 30 and increased to 60 in the year 1990 and to 90 in the year 2002 and it is increased to 120 from the year 2008. The department of EEE has been offering M. Tech course in Power Systems from 2010 with an intake of 18.

The department acquires the Accreditation Status two times and got autonomous status in the year 2014. With the advent of Autonomous status, the course pattern has been significantly revised in pace with latest trends and technologies of present days.

The Department has highly qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty. The Department has fully equipped laboratories to have an actual hands-on experience apart from the theoretical knowledge. It is continuously striving to import quality of education and competitive spirit among the students for the academic excellence. The department also has the credit of organizing one week, two and one day training programmes like workshops, conferences and CRT etc.

The continual university ranks, GATE Scores and placement of students in various core sectors and software organizations in around the country reflect the aspirations of this department. Alumni are well placed in India and abroad and many of them are presently pursuing their education in highly reputed institutes.

The prime motto of the department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering is to focus on the new developments to promote innovative ideas in various fields of Electrical Engineering in such a way that it would not only fulfill its obligation towards promoting undergraduate training at high level technology but also to cater the needs and aspirations of Electrical Engineering industry in particular.

Program Educational Objectives of the Electrical and Electronics Engineering provides the following wide aspects in connection with the Vision and Mission of the department.
PEO-1: To provide students with strong foundation in the Mathematical, scientific and Engineering fundamentals necessary to formulate, solve, analyze and design engineering problems and to prepare them for graduate studies & application to product design.
PEO-2: To inculcate professional attitude in students, effective communication skills & capability to succeed in multi disciplinary and diverse fields and to fulfill the needs of society.
PEO-3: To promote students for continuous professional development including advanced education relevant to their career growth and to create enthusiasm for lifelong learning.
PEO-4: To prepare students for successful career in industry to meet the needs and to lead their professional disciplines to work as part of team on multi disciplinary projects and to introduce them to professional ethics and course of professional practices.

The Department is headed by Smt.C.N.Arpitha Associate Professor, who is actively monitoring the activities of the department. She is having more than 20 years of teaching experience.

Electrical Circuits & Networks Lab

DESCRIPTION:
In the Electrical Circuit & Networks Lab students can create their own electrical circuits and do measurements on it. In the circuits the students can use resistors, light bulbs, switches, capacitors and coils. The Lab consists of ammeter’s, voltmeter’s, wattmeter’s, RPS Dual Channels, Function Generators and Multi Meters. There is also a version of the Electrical Circuit Lab in which data can be collected. Students can analyze the collected data by creating graphs of the
data and use the graphs in the conclusion tool.

Electrical Machines Lab

DESCRIPTION:
This is the main lab where experiments like load test on various machines, speed control tests, open circuit tests, short circuit tests, etc are carried out and also wide variety of practicals are performed here with combination of different rotating machines. The laboratory is also used for research activities in machines and to carry out project works on energy conversion.

DESCRIPTION:
Power system Laboratory comprises of protection, simulation, high voltage and machine related experiments. Facilities are available for over-current, under-voltage, directional, differential and distance relays including different numerical relays. Varieties of Power system Simulation packages like PSCAD and ETAP are available. The consisting of 220KVA High Voltage transmission Model.

DESCRIPTION:
The Power electronics lab increase the quality of EEE students by providing them the better understanding of the concepts and working of advanced power semiconductor devices and power electronics circuits.
The Control Systems Laboratory, part of the Electrical engineering department at KSRMCE, give a Special importance on design and implementation of control systems theory. The lab facilitates about the study of: Error analysis of discrete systems, system representation via transfer function and state variables, root locus analysis, Bode analysis, feedback control analysis and design, sensitivity analysis, compensation design via root locus, compensation design via frequency response methods.

DESCRIPTION:
The laboratory is involved in all the areas of study, related to measurement and calibration. It is equipped with all measuring instruments, phase shifting transformers, bridge circuits and induction coil etc. Here students learn to calibrate the meters, verify theorems, and understand hysteresis characteristics & other important concepts related to measuring.

DESCRIPTION:
The importance of the Simulation Lab is useful in the various fields of Engineering Applications for an Electrical Engineer, it is required to have the practical ideas about the Electrical Circuits, Control system Concepts, Power Electronic Converters and Power systems. By this reason Simulation Laboratory have been introduced. The Laboratory was equipped with 60 Systems and manual cum Observation for Electrical Circuits, Control system, Power electronic and Power systems.
